Splitfest 2012 goes off at Temple

Despite the average weather forecast a solid crew turned out for Splitfest 2012 up at Temple Basin and were mighty happy they did! Equally impressive was a huge range of gear the latest splitboards, hand made boards and even hand made bindings all on show. The format was the same as last year with demo gear, split boarding lessons and a snow safety workshop all on offer, plenty of partying down at the UC ski lodge and all round good vibes for a weekend in the mountains. Plus there was a ton of snow!
After a week closed by storms the mountain had picked over metre of new snow and was looking a treat. It was still snowing early Saturday but by mid morning the clouds had cleared and the Temple crew started opening up the terrain right on cue. After busy day tracking out the pow and enjoying the night skiing on Saturday another 10cm of fresh then turned up overnight. The Sunday arvo barbie and prize-giving came around all too soon but after two solid days of riding, swapping yarns and experimenting with gear all those that made the effort were well stoked with their weekend.

Now into its second year Splitfest will be doing exactly the same next gear so keep an eye on the Chill event calendar and lock it in. Massive thanks to the growing list of sponsors who put up a tasty 2k of prizes this year adding a little icing on the cake for a lucky few! Thanks to Splitn2, Spark RnD, Quiksilver, Libtech, Gnu, Temple Basin and the guys at Chill for making it a great event. Keep an eye on www.splitfest.co.nz for more pics and news coming soon.
